Course Overview
The Level 4 course provides regular opportunities to connect with the realities of the professional world through industry-focused check-ins and sessions with tutors and your group. These encounters offer valuable insights and support students in building meaningful professional networks to support their career development.
Students are encouraged to keep detailed artistic process journals, using reflective writing to explore their growth, challenges, and creative choices. This ongoing practice supports self-awareness, strengthens creative accountability, and develops the professional discipline needed for a sustainable artistic life.
Additionally, through focused study of a specific writer, director, or theatre practitioner, students engage deeply with influential artistic work. This research not only expands their artistic vocabulary but also informs and enriches their own practice, fostering a critical understanding of their place within the wider creative landscape.
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to working on scenes and monologues from a variety of substantial texts. Students also develop self-sourced monologues that reflect their own voice and identity, with an emphasis on achieving authentic, emotionally connected performance.
Improvisation is explored as a vital rehearsal tool, helping students access spontaneity and emotional truth. These techniques support the cultivation of presence, responsiveness, and adaptability—key qualities for creative flexibility in both rehearsal and performance.
Each student receives individualised feedback and coaching tailored to their specific artistic journey. This approach supports self-driven learning and creative autonomy, enabling students to build a rigorous, personally-rooted artistic practice.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of Level 1, 2 and 3 or other formal training/prior acting experience is required.
- A good standard of English language is required.
- An open mind and the desire to grow and work as a team with other like-minded people.
